BookEnds Literary Agency

BookEnds Literary Agency

Since opening its doors in 1999, BookEnds Literary Agency has never strayed from our original goal: Achieving dreams and doing what we love. Representing fiction and nonfiction for adults and children alike, BookEnds agents continue to live their dreams while helping authors achieve theirs.

First opened as a book packaging company, we were originally looking to take our own fresh and fun ideas and find just the right people to create the books publishers and readers were looking for. Over time, we missed working on fiction and seeing what could come from an author's imagination as well as an author's platform. So not two years after opening its doors, BookEnds changed its literary status to Agency.

While the industry has changed, and BookEnds has grown, the one thing we've never lost is our passion and love for books and the authors who create them.

Chelsea Green Publishing

Chelsea Green Publishing

Founded in 1984, Chelsea Green Publishing is recognized as a leading publisher of books on the politics and practice of sustainable living, publishing authors who bring in-depth, practical knowledge to life, and give readers hands-on information related to organic farming and gardening, permaculture, ecology, the environment, simple living, food, sustainable business and economics, green building, and more.

In 2012, Chelsea Green decided to practice what it publishes and became an employee-owned company, creating an ESOP in which employees control 78 percent of the company’s privately held stock; the remaining stock is held by the founders.
Chelsea Green is also an industry leader when it comes to book publishing as a craft, too. Our team of editors works closely with each author to develop their manuscript before it even heads into the production and design process. We also have in-house design, sales, and marketing teams—including events, media, and publicity outreach, as well as social media and online marketing guidance—that allow us to provide a full suite of support services for our authors. We are a founding member of the Green Press Initiative and have been printing books on recycled paper since 1985, when our books first appeared in bookstores.
We lead the industry both in terms of content—foundational books on renewable energy, green building, organic agriculture, eco-cuisine, and ethical business—and in terms of environmental practice, printing 95 percent of our books on recycled paper with a minimum 30 percent post-consumer waste and aiming for 100 percent whenever possible. We also print our books in North America, as opposed to overseas like many publishers, with most of our printing partners based in the United States.
This approach is a perfect example of what is called a ”triple bottom line“ practice, one that benefits people, planet, and profit, and the emerging new model for sustainable businesses in the 21st century.

Harper Collins Australia/New Zealand

Harper Collins Australia/New Zealand

HarperCollins occupies a unique place in Australian and New Zealand publishing. In both nations we are the oldest publisher – with a heritage dating back to the bush ballads and school books of the late nineteenth century – and the most forward thinking in terms of our transition to the global digital world of today.

Through the decades, our publishing has been distinguished by a commitment to quality and creativity plus an innate understanding of what Australians and New Zealanders want to read and how. Authors and their work have always been at the heart of our company – without authors there would be no HarperCollins. Publishing is a highly collaborative business: everyone in the company contributes in some way to maximising our author’s work.
Our company has an equally long heritage globally and indeed today we are able to work more closely than ever before with colleagues around the world to ensure that our local titles are exploited internationally. The modern-day HarperCollins Publishers was founded in 1989 by the amalgamation of three proud publishing houses – Harper & Row (founded in New York in 1817), William Collins (founded in Glasgow in 1819) and Angus & Robertson (founded in Sydney in the 1880s).

James Fitzgerald Agency

James Fitzgerald Agency

The James Fitzgerald Agency has been creating, editing, nurturing, selling and maintaining books for over a decade.

The books are slivers of the culture we all engage and dip in and out of be it in the realm of magic, the West, motorcycle mania, modern music, chemistry or just plain old-fashion good stories. Books after all the rhetoric has been uttered and digested are simply intellectual properties put on paper, made public and sold. They are large kernels of cohesive ideas that educate, entertain and last forever.
Publishing in the 21st Century is a fast moving, ever-changing target that is redefining itself almost daily. As agents we are prepared for the inevitability of diversification, we are locked and loaded and ready to meet these new innovations, forms and procedures, these constant challenges of getting the word out every single day.

She is as comfortable with commercial fiction as she is with highly produced full color books; with the unconventional and best-selling Anti-Coloring Books as she is with translating the online wedding resource, The Knot, into a book franchise. She shepherded Sarah Ban Breathnach's ground-breaking Simple Abundance (2 1/2 years on the NY Times bestseller list) and its follow-ups through the publishing process. Ever ahead of the trends, she was in on the boon in young adult fiction series in the 1970's and 1980's, the cookbook and lifestyle rage in the 1980's, and the blossoming of spirituality and esoterica in the 1980's and 1990's. Having started her own, boutique-sized agency in 2000, she is best known for representing popular non-fiction books particularly in the areas of memoir, self-help and women's issues, and tapping into the newest theories in health, science and spirituality which are supported by impeccable research and scholarship.  She is on the faculty of the M.A./M.F.A. in Creative Writing program at Wilkes University.
